On 21 April 2024, Alex Brown represented New Zealand in the 20km race at the World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships in Antalya, Turkey finishing in a season’s best of 1:54:38. The race took place on a 2km loop course located close to the Antalya Expo Centre, with the start and finish area in front of the Expo 2016 Botanical Park. Antalya is on the Mediterranean coast.
What an honour to have such a talented and dedicated young man in our ranks. Alex has been a member of the Caversham club since he was in primary school competing in children’s athletics. When he moved on to high school, he also became and as a post grad at University, continues to be a regular helper/official at Caversham children’s club nights and Otago Children’s athletics on Saturday mornings in the summer months.
